How to Be a Super Achiever Instead of an Over Achiever
Being successful, wealthy and influential is admirable. It’s good to have money to support your family and loved ones. It’s great to have a profitable business that makes a difference in someone’s life. It’s remarkable to make the world a better place to live. However, there’s a huge difference between a super achiever and an over achiever.
Overachievers are those hardcore individuals who are outcome-oriented and they are willing to do whatever it takes to acquire success. They may secretly judge their personal worth based on how well they perform in public and they are always stressed about how the future may not be the way they want.
Their work ethics are commendable, but in most cases they ignore other areas of their lives that aren’t directly relevant to their business growth – physical health, emotional well-being, healthy social life, family time, and spirituality etc.
“The starting point of all achievement is desire.” – Napoleon Hill
In contrast, super achievers are those miraculous individuals who seem to win in every area of their lives. They have a strong energetic healthy body. They seem contented, positive and grateful for being alive.
They are at the center of the party where everyone seems to be charmed by his or her presence. They encourage, inspire and uplift others to pursue their path and unleash their potential. They spend quality time with their spouses and lovely children.
And most surprisingly, they handle all these personal issues well while having incredible professional lives where their work deliver massive value to the world which create more wealth for everyone involved.
How can these super achievers have everything? And how can you do the same?
Well, one of the key differentiators of super achievers from overachievers is that super achievers play the “long game of life” instead of “short term blindfolded success”. They understand that although it’s hard to have a 50:50 work life balance, strategic rejuvenation is the key to support them to keep going.
Yes they hustle hard. Yes they train hard. Yes they work hard. Yes they push their comfort zones hard. But they also respect the natural laws of ebb and flow, incorporate rest periods with discipline and chill themselves out and unwind in appropriate times.
In their eyes, productivity and rejuvenation are twin sisters that support each other’s growth, no one can thrive without the other.
Here are a few things that make superachievers different:
- They take quick short 10 minutes break after an hour of focused actions.
- They sleep like babies peacefully for 7-8 hours on average because they know they have given it all throughout the day.
- They sometimes connect with Mother Nature because they respectfully know that humans originated from the woods.
- They organize quality social events for their inner circles because they get that people sometimes just want to relax and have fun.
- They plan out cool trips and adventures in foreign countries every few months so their family can share great memories together.
- They reconnect with their mentors, coaches and teachers who supported their journeys and pay back their teachings.
“Every successful individual knows that his or her achievement depends on a community of persons working together.” – Paul Ryan
In short, super achievers are ambitious warriors who recognize their personal power to achieve unlimited success while humbly accepting the truth that they too have limits and life is much more than achievements and success.
Do you neglect your health, relationships and passion for the sake of money, power and status? Are you an over achiever who always goes bigger, faster and more in life because you‘re filling the empty hole inside you with recognition and validation? Or are you a super achiever who never settles for less in future while appreciating the present moment with the people around you?
