5 Important Ways To Rise From Defeat
Everyone falls down once in a while. We shouldn’t let defeat, failure or making mistakes overcome us because some things are just meant to be. Accepting moments as they happen and as they are will lead to your own self-liberation and a path towards something better.
By chasing my dreams I will incur defeat and loss along the way but that should not stop me in continuing to strive for my passion in life. This continuous belief will help you overcome defeat. Maybe you have been built to encounter such test and defeats to know what you can overcome.
Here are five ways to rise from defeat:
1. Remember why you started
Every time you encounter defeat you are forced to dig deep and look for energy reserves, passion, and belief in chasing your dreams. Constantly asking myself what’s my why? My why is refusing to be average; to inspire and motivate others, through my work and character. There are much bigger causes in the world that require our attention as opposed to focusing on just you.
There is a reason behind everything and you will discover it at the right time. We are not aware of the clockworks of the universe. It slowly ticks away and we face new obstacles in our path requiring constant affirmation, belief and hope that anything is possible. Every obstacle is a reminder to go back and reignite that spark when you first began your journey.
2. Get up and try again
The more time spent on focussing on the past the less time you have for improvement and becoming successful. There is no need to be melodramatic when things don’t go as planned. Use the time ahead to your advantage and try as many times as you can to make your breakthrough. Ask yourself if what you’re doing is getting you closer to your goal.
Success is the by-product of small efforts coming together as one. Nature’s law shows us that good things come in time and if you wish to see change then put effort in harvesting the seeds that you have planted. The advice is simple; get up, show up, and be ready for your next bout.
“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is to try just one more time.” – Thomas Edison
3. Silence the voices
Voices reside in our minds as doubts, which build up as fear and worry us about what is next. Added pressure also comes from what others will say about you. The only person you should aspire to be is a better version of yourself. You won’t do yourself any good if you’re constantly gaining other people’s appreciation to make yourself feel better because if you incur failure it leads to a cycle of destruction.
Part of success is learning how to control pain and using it to build strength. That control is won by counteracting negative thoughts on a daily basis with positive energy. Gain positive energy right away with “I can do it”, “I will do it” spirit. Just a little positivity goes a long way and makes your goal more clear.
4. Find support
Your confidence is shaken so you avoid talking to people because it hurts to elaborate on the way things unfolded. Creating a framework of support from extrinsic motivators like family, friends, and mentors will provide fuel for your motivation. Admitting defeat and talking about it is self-liberating and a source of building courage.
Ask your peers how they overcome obstacles and I’m sure their stories will be a source of inspiration and motivation. Therefore you must engage in important conversations; work together and ask as many questions as possible to get that spark to reinvigorate your confidence again. It is tough trying to make it on your own and that’s why success sometimes isn’t an all alone thing it is an altogether thing.
5. Learn patience the right way
In order to adapt to sudden defeat, treat it as a temporary process because it becomes easier to handle. There is no finish line to failure and see it as a continuing process where you can grow. You may think that continuing on is hopeless but patience teaches one to act differently and by not being bitter.
All you have to do is work hard on planning. You will rise again because the fruits of your labour don’t always become evident but more that your patience is required. Nurture your dreams with patience and get ready to shine.
“Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting” – Joyce Meyer
We all carry a massive weight on our shoulders and it feels as if the world has come to an end. Defeat it is just a small thing, so let go. The world goes on regardless and you still exist. Failure offers you a new perspective and a new breath in life to say to yourself: it’s ok.
Think of a spectrum; somebody out there on one end doesn’t have the same opportunities as you so in that regard feel blessed and humbled that you have something.
