5 Reasons Why You’re Not Hungry Enough to Be Successful

Do you feel stuck in life? Maybe something’s holding you back, but you don’t quite know what it is.

You look at successful people of the world wondering what they did differently. Let’s face it, a lot of us feel held back by our current circumstances and in order to cope we become numb.

But, numb is not the answer. Now is not the time to give up. You’re already going through hell just to get by. Why don’t you channel that pain towards something greater? Once you’re to-the-core hungry, you become an unstoppable force. But first, let’s get real with why you’re still not quite there yet.

Here are 5 reasons you’re still not hungry enough to go all in towards your dreams:

1. You blame everything on others

At times, life will test you beyond your limits. You’ll be left wondering what prompted things to go so far south. And when you’re standing there amidst the ashes, you’ll have the opportunity to either play the victim of your circumstances or rise above.

Whether it be the corruption of a rigged system or the intended evil from others around you, others may in fact be to blame. But, what good does it do to focus all of your attention on the frauds of this world? Instead, decide what’s worth calling out and what’s worth forgetting.

“People spend too much time finding other people to blame, too much energy finding excuses for not being what they are capable of being, and not enough energy putting themselves on the line, growing out of the past, and getting on with their lives.” – J. Michael Straczynski

2. You blame everything on yourself

On the other end of the spectrum, if you fault yourself for everything that’s going wrong, it’ll be slow suicide to your mind. At times, it’s worth it to take a hard look in the mirror and understanding what you could do differently, but give yourself a break.

Sometimes, life is out of your control and you can’t keep beating yourself up. Would you be that cruel to someone else? Why don’t you start treating yourself more like a best friend and less like a punching bag.

3You ask for permission

So no one gave you permission to do what you really want to do? No one read your mind and decided to hold your hand through the process? Well, so what! If it’s really your dream, you’re not going to sit around waiting for someone to tell you to get started. Once you want it bad enough, you don’t need others’ permission. You’ll just start moving.

“Dream and give yourself permission to envision a You that you choose to be.” – Joy Page

4. You let people get to you

Let’s face it, there will be countless haters, doubters and small-minded individuals that try to deter you from your dreams. When there’s no playbook written out, their opinions might make you think twice. But, they’re often telling you you’re crazy, because they regret not making the sacrifices to work towards something greater themselves.

Nothing hurts more than seeing someone else do what you wish you did. Forget their small minds and focus on becoming the person of your dreams. Trust me, you can laugh at them later.

5. You gave up on what matters most to you

Only you know what really matters to you in this life. Never settle in pursuing just that. You owe it to yourself. Don’t look back knowing that you didn’t listen to your gut when it was telling you to go a different path.

Once you’re truly hungry, you’ll make the sacrifices necessary to pursue your dreams. It won’t matter what others will think, do or say. What will matter is that you’re doing what you were meant to do.

The world needs more people that don’t give up. Will you be one of them? Please leave your thoughts in the comment section below!

Based on Tip 3 A very good quote someone said to me once…on an entrepreneurial journey It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than what it is for permission. Go make your dreams come true

Thanks George! I’ve definitely had to learn #1 & 3 many times over before they have finally stuck. I swear life will keep trying to teach you things over and over until you get it, whether it takes 3 times or 88. Sometimes, you’ve gotta take a look in the mirror and face your own demons.

How does one improve his own situation when helping others is his passive passion? The harder the help required, the stronger I grow

Thanks for commenting! I want to make sure that I am understanding what you wrote correctly, but I do agree that the more we can help others, the happier and more successful we become. If you look back at the most fulfilling times in your life, they were probably times when you made a lasting impact on others or were focusing on helping someone else. When we achieve success, but it is completely self-serving, there is often unhappiness that follows soon after. This is why adding value to others is so very crucial.

Yes, it is simply devastating how cruel we can be to ourselves when trying to become successful. But, the most successful people are those who don’t waste time obsessing over their imperfections. I have wasted so much of my life worrying and nitpicking myself, because I care so deeply to improve.

But, It is so worth it to take a step back and realize how incredible you are. If you can love yourself and become confident, your entire life will be so very different. Give yourself permission to be a human with flaws and you won’t be distracted by your shortcomings.

    Hi Jessica,
This is just an awesome article. I agree with all your points especially with point no. 1 and 5.
Most of the time, we blame on others for our failure. We never check what went wrong from our own side. And the second most that we gave up n what matters most to us. But we should always remember while giving up that why we started.
Overall an awesome article! Thank you for sharing this with us

      Hi Vikash,
Thank you for your kind words! I’ve faced all of these issues myself and thus, I have lived and learned. That is always the best way. But, when we get down to what truly matters, why we started and zero in on our goal, there is nothing that can stop us. Nothing.

5 Things You Can Learn From The 5am Club by Robin Sharma

Avatar

Published

It has been said by Robin Sharma, “5 AM is the time of least distraction, highest human glory, and greatest peace.” This also happens to be the central idea or the core value he has discussed in his book, ‘The 5 Am Club.’ Speaking of early mornings, at what time do you wake up? Are you annoyed by the fact that you wake up on the edge of time and then rush to work in haste?

The life lessons put forth by The 5 AM Club are exactly the learning and motivation you need to challenge your complacency. In your race against time, you may not have the time to read this fabulous book. So, we have summed up the key book’s takeaways for your convenience.

1. The vigor of waking up early

This is what the book’s most fundamental advice to everyone is. Waking up at 5 am every day can work wonders to avert failures and make success a natural habit. When we wake up at 5 am, we have more time on our hands than others. Besides, this is when we have minimum interruptions and maximum powerfulness of the mind.

To add, the early morning peace is priceless! You can schedule your most important tasks of the day between 5am, and 8am. This book teaches us in the simplest way, how we can train our mind and strengthen it to deliver the highest productivity by waking up early. This energy that you have when you wake up in the morning and the few additional hours in your day are what serve as perfect ingredients for success.

“The secret to productivity is simplicity.” – Robin Sharma

2. The power of finding the right balance in life

The book talks about a precious lesson of finding the right balance within. We often talk about the need for mindfulness and achieving the right mindset to perceive things. But this book goes a few steps ahead of our usual approach to life. It highlights the vitality of mindset and introduces the concepts of heartset, healthset, and soulset.

These terms may seem new, but they are self-explanatory. The idea of heartset endorses the essentialness of emotional stability and well-being. Next, the perspective of healthset indicates the need to look after physical health. At last, soulset is an attribute of spirituality. As explained in this book, success prospects can be enhanced big time by achieving the right balance between these internal virtues.

3. The iconic 20/20/20 modus operandi

What is the first thing you will do if you start waking up at 5 am every day? Did you ever spare a thought about it? This book has the answer to this question, and you will be convinced that it is a great way to begin your day!. The author suggests that you should split the first hour of the day into three equal parts of 20 minutes each.

In the first 20 minutes of the day, you should prioritize your physical fitness and exercise. In the next 20 minutes, you should energize your soul and spirit via self-reflection and soulful meditation. This will prepare you for the rest of the day and will enable you to bolster your commitment and focus. In the last 20 minutes of the first hour, you should read and learn. But what are you going to read about in those 20 minutes? Read about successful people and their inspiring journeys to the pinnacle of success.

4. The significance of a proper sleep schedule

In this book, there is a mention of ‘a ferocious global sleep recession’, which is intriguing and enlightening. It hints at the state of sleep deprivation that this world is sinking into gradually. We often associate success and hard work with the notion of staying up all night and testing our endurance beyond limits. But that is not the right approach to accomplishing success, or rather, it is a flawed methodology.

Sometimes even if we do not have any critical work, we keep whiling our night time on social media or television. What are we gaining from it is the real question, and I am afraid the answer is nothing! We learn from this book that it is critical to look after your sleep cycle and start your day at 5 am afresh. Sleep and rest are indispensable for mental and physical well-being, or your productivity will decline.

“If you want to have the results only 5% have, you must be willing to do and think like only 5% do and think.” – Robin Sharma

5. The art of evolving

The book sheds light on the need to be spiritual and master self-reflection. However, do you realize the purpose that the routine of reflection each morning serves? The idea is to keep learning, keep reflecting on the mistakes and keep evolution an ongoing process. You should evolve every day and strive to be a better version of yourself every day. So, one of your primary goals after waking up should be to reflect on your actions and missed opportunities of the previous day.

To recapitulate, The 5 AM Club is a must-read book if you are a passionate reader. It has the prowess and charm to refurbish your perception of life altogether. Even if you cannot read the book for some reason, make sure you incorporate the above key takeaways into your life. By starting your day at 5 am, you can rediscover your lost soul and enthusiasm, and you would not have complaints to make about the lack of time. If you can own your mornings, you can go places on the ladder of success, for excuses are only for those who are not committed to their goals.
