Teachers show you something and leave you to your own devices. A mentor is concerned about your “whole being.” They pierce who you are to help guide you without interfering with your individuality. A mentor should never want you to be like them, but help to mould those characteristics that make you, well, you.

Who is your mentor? and why is it important to have a mentor? Read on as we explain why.

The Definition Of A Mentor

A mentor is someone you can look up to, normally deemed to be a trusted counselor or guide. Mentors play a crucial part in our lives by sharing their experience, words of positive thinking and how you can go about getting the best out of your life. Most people only think of mentors in the form of academic or job relations. Even though this is not uncommon, here, we speak of mentors in deeper terms. In fact, a mentor can emerge in various forms. Whether a person, a movie, lyrics of a song, or a book, a mentor gives the student a unique tool, training, or advice that puts them on the right road of life’s journey that suits the particular challenges they face. A mentor cannot free anyone from life’s challenges, but they can teach you how to cope with them, overcome them, learn from them, and move onto your next level of growth.

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” - Benjamin Franklin

Today, the term “mentor” is used loosely. You can practically find a mentor in your basement if you look hard enough. There are self-help gurus, life coaches, TV personalities, motivational speakers, and the whole lot. There are a number of channels in which these mentors can be contacted as well. The Internet, videos, Skype, books, Facebook, just about anywhere today, someone can be contacted instantly to assist you with your life journey. Life is certainly complicated enough. If you want to build a momentous life, you will need to meet individuals who can help guide you, and you must be ready to be guided.

Wisdom is the Mentor’s Hangout

In order to succeed in life your best teacher is wisdom. It should be pursued with enthusiasm. Hang out with wise people and model your life after them. Ask questions and continue to ask for as long as your mentor is willing to answer. To the surprise of many, wisdom is not just book learning, and certainly not instantly obtainable. It defies precise definition. To define wisdom too strictly is curtailing the depth of it potential to help us.

The spirit of wisdom is praised in every land. It is frequently viewed as a state-of-mind that leaves one calm and able to filter through situations put before them without acting rashly. Wisdom consists of the ability to reflect and view the bigger-picture while still appreciating the minute details that make things work well. The great philosopher Confucius said, “There are three ways one may learn wisdom. Firstly, through reflection, which is gracious, then by imitation, which is simplest, and last by experience, which is the most unpleasant.”

A “true” mentor must possess qualities of wisdom. There are mentors who are charismatic, but that does not equate wisdom. There are mentors who are attractive, but it has nothing to do with insight. There are mentors who are materially wealthy, but there are fools who are as well. You can find mentors in every walk of life whether they are for personal or professional assistance. Nevertheless, if they do not possess the characteristics of sincerity and the ability to deeply comprehend where it is you need to grow, a mentor will be of very little help.

Mentors in Your Professional Work Life

A few years ago a large technology company based in the United States released results of a study that delved into the value of mentoring. The study, conducted by a research and advisory firm and a software and services company, utilized statistical investigations to analyze the financial influence of mentoring and how funding could be used in that area. The study determined that “mentoring had a positive affect on mentors and their learners and produced staff that was more highly valued by the company.”

Researchers checked data from over 1,000 employees through a five-year period, classified by job description, such as engineers and administrators. The study analyzed nearly 70 variables such as previous employment code, base pay, job performance rating, salary grade, promotion, salary grade change, salary increase because of promotion, and merit increase in salary.

Researchers discovered that 25% of employees in the test cluster that participated in the company’s mentoring program had a salary-grade change, The program also had positive financial advantages for the mentors: over 27% of mentors in the test group were given a salary-grade change compared to 5% in the control group.

Researchers also discovered that the company’s mentoring program was not as effective for high achievers. This was astounding, since many mentoring programs concentrate on developing high-performers with the best potential. This led researchers to deduce that “funds are better spent on lower-performers to assist them in raising their performance level.” Overall, the study showed that mentoring can only be worthwhile if the learner is willing to be taught. The perfect mentor needs perfect students, if not, no one benefits whether in the corporate world or in private life.

Modelling the Masters

In Homer’s noble verse “The Odyssey,” Odysseus had difficulty finding his way back home to the palace after the Trojan War, there were too many dangers threatened to disrupt his crossing. However, Odysseus felt comforted knowing that he had a wise and loyal friend named Mentor to protect and teach his son, Telemachus, through his absence.

Despite the wave of change in our culture, in some cases because of it, mentoring is vital in every person’s life. Especially younger people looking to learn from more experienced individuals in their private and work lives. In fact, mentoring may be just as important for organizations since connecting with mature mentors with a promising protégé is a perfect means of keeping valued employees and preventing them from going elsewhere.

Mentors help to guide an individual, organization, or employee to become acclimated to the world around them while keeping the validity of each one’s purpose. As adults, we must take the proper approach to finding the right mentor for our lives. To find the right mentor, search deep. Don’t grab the closest expert from down the block. Look with your eyes open. Check their credentials and references. Find out if they live by their word. Test their wisdom. Make sure they are respected.

The secret to a good mentor is a developed commitment to communication and trust. Criticism is something many of us find hard to take lightly; however, it is a less difficult pill to swallow if it is coming from a person you trust, a person with insight and wisdom, someone who you know has your back. In particular, be sure that you mentor is available to you. You may have the utmost mentor in the universe; however, if they have no time for you, then they will not be the best option to guide you to the place you really want to be.

Becoming successful in life is more about decision making than it is about effort or hard work. We’ve all been there. That moment when we have to decide between one thing and another. It could be anything. Something as small as whether to pay the electricity bill or buy gas with the rent money. Or something as big as whether to change careers in turbulent times or stay the course and face misery on a daily basis. Making a decision can be frustrating and liberating at the same time, because you know it will change your life and alter it forever.

While everyone tells you about hard work and its rewards, rarely do people come up and tell you that they are where they are in life because of a gamble worthy decision or two that they made a while ago. Even rarer are people who tell you about how speedy decision making helped them find firm footing when they were surrounded by chaos and uncertainty. This is because the most closely guarded secret to becoming successful is, you guessed it, QUICK DECISION MAKING.

Unsuccessful people aren’t wrong all the time, but they share one common trait that is obvious to those who look closely. They are very poor decision makers.

Poor decision making skills reflect badly on your life, your work, your business, your personality and multiple other things that are your essentials for growth. Becoming successful is not so much about decisions as the time you take deciding them. One can make a really good decision, like say, a decision to change careers after realizing that the current career is going nowhere. Now this person can wait for really long, grow old and make no difference with the decision. On the other hand, they can make the decision really fast in spite of the risks and turn his or her life around with remarkable results.

Either way, this habit is the No.1 cause of failure. If you hope to even have a long shot at becoming successful, you have to get rid of one thing and one thing only:

INDECISIVENESS!

It affects many more things than you realize. People drag their feet on decisions for too long before they realize that their dreams have grown stale and they are growing older by the day. Too much time has passed by and any success they could have hoped to achieve would be irrelevant anyway.

The worlds leading Peak Performance coach Tony Robbins once said:

“Studies have shown that the most successful people make decisions rapidly because they are clear on their values and what they really want for their lives. The same studies show that they are slow to change their decisions, if at all. People who fail usually make decisions slowly and change their minds quickly, always bouncing back and forth. Just decide!” - Anthony Robbins

There is magic in good decision making. Speed is one thing, and good decision making is entirely another. Becoming successful requires a delicate mix of both these traits. You can make a bad decision fast and drive yourself into the ground or you can make a good decision late and suffer the consequences mentioned above. Sometimes, there is no such thing as a good or a bad decision. There are only decisions and more decisions. Successful people are those who make a large number of good decisions, fast. No one can be perfect and you will be wrong some of the time. But if you make a decision immediately, you will tide over bad results if any, sooner than you think you will.

What prompt decision making gives you a fighting chance at survival in the big bad world of competing ideas and businesses. Anyone will agree that a fighting chance is any day better than assured failure. A decision made fast might go wrong, but a decision that’s never made will definitely go wrong. The accuracy of this logic is evident in the fact that the most successful people on earth attribute their success to fast decision making.

Life is full of decisions. That’s how we all go from one place to another while also growing in the process. If you’re not making any decisions you’re stuck in the same place while the world surges ahead. Wherever you are and whatever you do, making a decision is not only important in becoming successful, but it’s the only way you can ever hope to grow and turn your life around for the better. All that you need is already with you. So free up your mind, take a deep breath and make those decisions fast. Your success almost wholly depends on prompt and good decision making.

Very often, we’re led to believe that being single is the best way to be successful at what we do. However, that logic goes straight out the window when you actually contemplate the number of positive influences that a relationship can have on a person’s career and work life. The right partner or a spouse can really help bring in a number of amazing influences over one’s life that will contribute toward their careers in more ways than one.

Here’s a list of reasons that explain how a great relationship can drastically boost your chances of success!

A partner makes a great alternative moral compass

Believe it or not, however perfect a compass is, it needs to be periodically adjusted for error. So when your moral compass goes haywire as it sometimes does for everyone, your partner takes up the slack on your behalf. He or She guides you through times when you’re not so sure of yourself. In a cutthroat world, a loving partner always reminds us of what we stand for. That way you’ll never lose yourself trying to be successful.

A partner represents everything you worked hard for

Let’s face it. We all need a reason to be successful. What better reason can anyone have than an amazing partner who makes coming home to at the end of each day, a blessing. Humans are hardwired to do three things very well. To provide, to defend and to excel at what they do however insignificant it might be. While being successful is more related to the latter, the first two provide strong motivation for success.

A loving spouse reminds you of why you love your job

We all hate our jobs at some point of time. The best way to be successful at what we do is by hanging in there and never give up. Often, our real life relationships are fairly reflective of the dedication we show towards our careers. People who are firmly rooted in a relationship tend to better understand the demands of dedication and don’t let temporary setbacks discourage them.

A spouse is the most unbiased advisor you can ever get

We make mistakes at work and we make mistakes at home. In each instance, our partners remind us exactly where we went wrong and how we can do it right. They may not always be correct, but they speak from their heart. That’s something you can only rarely find among peers these days. A partner’s perspective on your work related issues are often fresh and not colored with prejudice. That’s a valuable tool in the hands of people trying to be successful.

Everyone needs someone that makes it all worthwhile

To be successful means nothing if you don’t have something or in this case, someone, to come home to. In the end, personal relationships matter to us more than anything else. Success is truly meaningless if you don’t have someone you can share it with. A loving partner offers a reason, motivation and the drive for you to be successful. It can really get very lonely at the top, so if you intend to reach there, find someone you can take with you. You’ll find out that it’s the best decision you ever made in your life

A Fan For Life

Having a loving and supportive partner also means that no matter how successful you are and through your ups and downs, good and tough times, your partner will always be your biggest fan.

Having someone who supports what you do and who you are no matter what is so important and contributes to ones self-confidence and is encouraging – even when you think you don’t need it, the extra boost always helps!

With all of the above said, Congratulations if you are in a loving and supportive relationship with someone who brings out the best in you!

True love and companionship is not easy to find but I believe there is someone out there for everyone.

If you are in a relationship and feel like you are being held back or not being supported and cannot be your true self around them, I am sorry to say that a relationship should not be like that.

“Fighting is normal” “Every relationship goes through a bad patch” “It will get better” All of the myths mentioned above are just that – Myths!

Relationships are meant to be easy and when you meet the right person, they will complement your personality and you will feel like anything is possible which brings us to the point of this article.

A number of highly acclaimed motivational speakers have implemented the art of NLP to train others how to re-program their mind for success. Motivational speakers such as Tony Robbins, Paul McKenna & Derren Brown have hit the road running with this style and have proven that this technique really does work.

Follow our 10 Steps to Successful NLP Mastery to achieve what you really want out of life.

The 10 steps to mastering NLP

1. Understand what you’re getting into

Mastering NLP is not an easy thing to do. Many – or more accurately – most people can’t even manage to control their brain enough to get them out of bed on time in the morning – let alone completely revamp the inner workings of their conscious mind. The lifelong pursuit of mastering NLP is nothing short of the lifelong pursuit over mastery of the self. This short guide will point you in the right direction towards that path.

2. Know what NLP is

Much disinformation has been spread about NLP, and for good reason; it’s dangerous. Not dangerous to you and me of course, but dangerous to the institutions which rely on people having problems to make money. The pharmaceutical industry, professional psychiatrists, psychologists, and the enormous “self-help” industry all rely on you needing someone or something, usually a product, to make you better.

3. Know how NLP works

We all know the story of the pink elephant. I say pink elephant and you think of a pink elephant. It’s inevitable. This simple idea of Garbage In Garbage Out (GIGO), to take a term from the computer industry, can be seen as the same exact basis for NLP. Instead of finger-pointing blame to your problems and then prescribing a solution (usually a pill), NLP recognizes that there is input coming into your brain, recognizes your ability to change it, and then gives you a technique with which to do so.

4. Know the history of NLP and how it has evolved over time

Richard Bandler and John Grinder perhaps did not know what they were getting into back in 1975 when they created NLP. Today NLP has spawned into a multi-million dollar business with practitioners all across the world. While NLP has evolved extensively into the modern day, it is always a good idea to go back and look at the origins of the techniques you see today.

5. Learn from the masters

When you think of NLP masters you might think of people like Tony Robbins, Paul McKenna, and Derren Brown. While these people have popularized NLP to the mainstream, if you are looking to master the basics it is probably best to look elsewhere. People like Connie Rae Andreas, Robert Dilts, Charles Faulkner and Shlomo Vaknin have all written excellent books about understanding and eventually mastering the concepts behind NLP.

6. Know that there is no one way to master NLP

Once you start to get involved very deeply with NLP you will start to learn that NLP is as open ended and rife with possibilities as the human mind itself. Want to eliminate fear completely? It is possible. Want to create your own “magnificent obsession” for working out? There is a skill for that. Think you can’t master astrophysics? Think again. Everyone has their own path and their own preferences; pick yours and use NLP as a tool, not as a bible.

7. Experiment

Once you understand the basics it is time to get dirty. If you are focusing on yourself get ready to get in touch with your innermost thoughts and emotions. For some people it may be the first time they’ve ever challenged their internal beliefs about the way they see the world, how they operate and what their capable of. I mean this as no exaggeration, it may be very scary what you can potentially find.

8. Create your own interpretation

Once you have begun to get familiar with how your brain works and have mastered the techniques already laid out by the founders of NLP, you are going to want to branch out. Remember there is no dogma for NLP. In the field of trying to consciously control how your brain works and subsequently creating a map, or an operating manual for the human brain, we are just beginning to scratch the surface.

9. Extend your limits

This is where things really get fun. When you realize that there is no limit to the potential of the human mind, what will you do? If you could become anyone you wanted, who would you be? If there is something that has not been done before, why not do it? For most people this too much. Learning a technique or two for eliminating a phobia will suffice for your layperson, but when it comes to mastering NLP, the ceiling is non-existent.

10. Have fun

This is probably the most important step. In between conquering the world, your fears and your craving for that coconut cream pie, remember the adventure will be what you make it. How you take to NLP should be exactly how you would ideally like to feel about life itself. Don’t make it “work”, don’t make it rigid, have fun and make it your own. This is where your success will come from.

I have been following Tonys work for years now but have only recently really understood where he started out and how his life was before the glitz and the glamour.

For Anthony Robbins, it was not all that easy to get where he is today. His rise to the top began in a place where many people struggle to pursue their dreams.

After witnessing what both of these incredible businessmen have to offer during my visit to the National Achievers Congress in Sydney, Australia earlier this year, I’d say that this successful duo have some pretty valuable lessons to also share with you.

Save the best for last is how the saying goes and let me tell you something; Donald Trump was no exception to this rule! My third and final day at the NAC was yesterday (lastnight) and if I were in the U.S.A I would be voting Donald Trump for president.

A Man not afraid to gloat about his success, intelligence and wealth and share his struggles and triumphs of how he got there. Donald Trump is an Entrepreneur through and through and some people may not like what he has to say however most people just don’t like hearing the truth.

In this article I’ll share the key things I learnt from Mr Trump himself.

Donald Trump’s Words Of Wisdom

The key to having it in you to be an entrepreneur is “Pressure” and how well you handle it, how you deal when your under the pump. Donald expressed how important being able to handle pressure is for an entrepreneur and not being able to deal with pressure is the number one reason why most entrepreneurs fail.

We hear this next one a lot but even when you are at the top of the top it applies:

You have to love what you do! “When you love what you do, you tend to work harder anyway” - Donald Trump

“When you hit a wall find ways to go under and over, but never give up.” – Donald Trump

“You have to have passion, go with your gut, go against the tide” - Donald Trump

“Never ever ever give up. You can change and move around but NEVER ever give up” - Donald Trump

“You have to stay focused. You cannot take your eye of your goal” - Donald Trump

If you cannot handle the pressure, don’t be an entrepreneur … go get a job.” - Donald Trump

“Think BIG and always focus on the positive” - Donald Trump

“You have to see yourself as victorious” - Donald Trump

In business always get even with people. If they screw you screw them back ten times harder. - Donald Trump

“The harder I work, the luckier I get.” - Donald Trump

The last thing Donald Trump expressed importance about was something you rarely hear in a success speech:

MOMENTUM: “When you have momentum going, play the momentum” - Donald Trump

Some people will have momentum now, some already did and that’s ok but know when you don’t have it anymore and let it go.

Here is a Snippet of Donald Trumps appearance at the National Achievers Congress in Sydney Australia, featuring Miss Universe, Jennifer Hawkins.

Today I had the opportunity to attend the National Achievers Congress in Sydney for the second time this week for a presentation with Mr.Rich Dad, Poor Dad ‘Robert Kiyosaki’ and his wife ‘Kim Kiyosaki’. These two are a force to be reconed with, Kim Kiyosaki owns over 3000 apartments herself, Robert Kiyosaki is the author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad which is the #1 Selling Finance book of all time with a Net Worth of half a Billion Dollars you’d say that this power couple know a thing or two about what it takes to be successful.

I kept a close ear to the presentation and wrote down some great notes that I will most definitely be taking on board in my own adventures of Entrepreneurship. Read on for some stand out lines that I was able to capture in this amazing 3 hours of my day here in Sydney, Australia.

Robert Kiyosaki Quotes From The National Achievers Congress, Sydney 2011

“This is not a time to be poor, I think were pretty close to a depression but I think for some people this will be the best time ever. Look at that guy Zuckerberg, he’s a Multi-Billionaire already. So It’s going to get worse, but I think that’s a good thing for you guys. I’m not really religious but I don’t think God would put us in this situation unless there was an answer, and the answer is Entrepreneurship to get out of this mess.” – Robert Kiyosaki

“If you change your thoughts you can change your actions.” – Robert Kiyosaki

“Business is a relationship, you can’t make a good deal with a bad partner.” – Robert Kiyosaki

“If you wan to be rich the rule of thumb is to teach others how to be rich.” – Robert Kiyosaki

“Only lazy people use their own money….it takes more energy to get other people to invest in your own idea and to make it a success.” – Kim Kiyosaki

“The Bullshit they tell you about going to school is Bullshit.” - Robert Kiyosaki

“The poor, the unsuccessful, the unhappy, the unhealthy are the ones who use the word tomorrow the most.” - Robert Kiyosaki

“You can do anything you want, with the web today it’s never been easier to access world markets. If anybody says they don’t have money or they don’t have a job are a frickin loser, they want the government to take care of them.” – Robert Kiyosaki

Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn - Robert Kiyosaki

Stock markets are public markets, Entrepreneurs stay private – Robert Kiyosaki

‎”If you are going to change your tax you have to change your facts” – Tom Wheelwright, tax advisor for Kiyosaki

In this article we feature some of the most Successful people in from the entertainment, personal development, fashion, law & internet world as they share with you some of the Best Advice They Ever Got from their loved ones and role models in business and their life.

I wish I read this advice earlier, I’d probably be doing a hell of a lot better for myself. Don’t sleep on this post, there’s a lot of success gems in here.

Classic Success Advice

Craig Newmark

Founder, Craigslist

Back in 1990, I was a systems engineer at IBM in Detroit. I had a manager who told me that aside from my technical knowledge, my sense of humor was my saving grace. I was sometimes arrogant because I was very technical. It became a problem when I was working within a marketing division, and the culture was hostile to the technical culture. I was advised to use my dry sense of humor to help diffuse that atmosphere. In business there are times when you disagree, and sometimes it turns out that you’re just plain wrong. Humor takes away tension and helps you realize you’re wrong.

Joanna Shields

President, Bebo.com

I go back to things my dad said: “Your career is long and the business world is small. Always act with integrity. Never take the last dollar off the table.” In my dealings to sell Bebo [to AOL], this advice was critical. You can always do a slightly better deal, but that incremental dollar or windfall is not worth creating an imbalance that affects the relationship. You have to have the intuition to know when to say, “I’m going to make sure that we walk away feeling like we’ve both done well.”

Nelson Peltz

CEO, Trian Fund Management

It was my dad who gave me the best advice of my 45-year career: “Get sales up, and keep expenses down.” That sounds simplistic, but it’s the way my father got 4% margins in his food business when his competitors made 1% or 2%. The goal is to get revenues moving and to keep expenses from rising at the same rate so that margins expand. We accomplished that after we bought Snapple in 1997. We returned to our roots by winning back the local delis and pizza parlors that first made the brand a success. Margins exploded, and so did the value of Snapple. It was a textbook example of my father’s advice in practice.

Bob Iger

President and CEO, Walt Disney

My father wrote in my sixth-grade yearbook quoting Hamlet – Polonius to his son, Laertes: “To thine own self be true.” I was 12 years old, but it had a powerful impression on me then, and I’ve often thought of it since.

Thomas S. Murphy

Former CEO, Capital Cities/ABC

I got two pieces of advice I have always remembered. The first was from my father, Charles E. Murphy, who was a justice of the New York State Supreme Court. It was a point about ethics. He said, “Doing the wrong thing is not worth the loss of one night’s good sleep.”

The other came from Benjamin Selekman, a Harvard Business School professor who taught labor relations. The last thing he said, at his last lecture to my class, was, “Here is something to remember for the rest of your life: Don’t spend your time on things you can’t control. Instead, spend your time thinking about what you can.”

Sam Palmisano

Chairman and CEO, IBM

The best advice was from a former boss, who told me, “Don’t view your career as a linear progression.” He advised me to take horizontal rather than vertical steps: to try out situations that are unstructured, to learn different ways of working, and to get outside of headquarters and experience different cultures. I’ve applied this advice many times – most notably, taking a decidedly unstructured job at IBM Japan and then joining the fledgling IBM services business. After those experiences, I had the confidence that I could manage pretty much anything.

Actress; creator and star of 30 Rock

About 15 years ago, I saw an Oprah show where she said, “Always be the only person who can sign your checks.” At the time, I had no money. I was at Second City in Chicago. I came to New York in 1997 to work on Saturday Night Live. I realized I have no head for business. And it would have been very easy for me to let someone take control of my money – for me to say, “Here, sign my checks…whatever.” But that line from Oprah has always been a reminder. Today, as much as it makes me super sleepy, I have to pay a lot of attention when my business manager talks to me about money. He talks to me about taxes, and I get really, really sleepy. But I listen.

Mayor of New York City, founder of Bloomberg LP

I can’t remember who told me this, but I certainly didn’t grow up knowing it, so I must have gotten this advice at Salomon Brothers in the 1970s. The advice was, first, always ask for the order, and second, when the customer says yes, stop talking. I have watched more people make great presentations, whether they’re trying to sell to their family or in business or in government, and never get to the point of what they’re trying to get out of it. And too many times when the customer says yes, the person who got that answer just doesn’t stop talking. Worst advice? The worst advice that people can take is to react before they’ve had a chance to think. I think we all say things and wish we hadn’t said them. Ready, shoot, aim is not the smartest policy.

Performance coach

In 1979, when I was 19, I had all these people giving me conflicting advice. Jim Rohn, a personal-development speaker, said, ‘Tony, think about it this way. If your worst enemy drops sugar in your coffee, what’s going to happen to you? Nothing. But what if your best friend drops strychnine in your coffee? You’re dead. You have to stand guard at the door of your mind.” He was saying that the selection of [my friends and advisors] will matter more than anything else, and that you can’t take anybody’s approach as sacrosanct.

Chairman, The Estée Lauder Companies

The best advice I ever got came from my mother, Estée Lauder: She believed that if you had something good to say, you should put it in writing. But if you had something bad to say, you should tell the person to his or her face.

I learned this lesson the hard way. I’m chairman of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, and several years ago, I was angry with one of my trustees. I wrote a letter and signed it. But then I decided not to send the letter, and left it on my desk over the weekend. The following Monday I was out of the office, when a temp saw the letter and mailed it. The trustee got very angry and resigned from the board. To this day, writing that letter is something that I regret.

We are all familiar with Anthony Robbins who is a common household name where the subjects of Success and Motivation are concerned. Anthony Robbins started his career, promoting seminars for his mentor and well-known public figure, Jim Rohn. According to Anthony, Jim Rohn taught him that “happiness and success in life are not the result of what we have, but rather of how we live and what we do with the things we have makes the biggest difference in the quality of life”.

Read on to learn a thing or two about the master of Motivational Speaking.

Jim was born and raised on a small farm in Idaho and grew up as an only child. Once graduated from school he went on to college, completing a year before he dropped out to join the work force. Jim struggled financially as he worked for $57 a week at the age of 25 as a stock clerk for Sears and saw no way out of his financial difficulties.

Jim was invited to attend a lecture being given by Entrepreneur, John Earl Shoaff. John spoke of business, wealth, accomplishments, charisma and life philosophy’s which inspired Jim, giving him a new sense of hope and drive that he could do more with his life. John was VP of sales at a Nutritional company; Abunda Vita.

They say that when you want something that bad, you surround yourself with people you inspire to be like, mimic their ways and learn as much as you can from them and how they got to where they are today. This is exactly what Jim Rohn did when he made a decision to leave his clerk position with Sears to join Abunda Vita where Jim began his process of personal development that culminated in his becoming a millionaire by the age of 31.

Jim was invited to share his story with others at his local rotary club which he kindly accepted, naming his talk “Idaho Farm Boy Makes It To Beverly Hills”. So many people enjoyed his story that he was then asked to speak at various luncheons and other local events. This soon lead to his first public seminar at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 1963 which was the beginning of Jim Rohn presenting Seminars all over the country telling his story and teaching others the personal development philosophy he believed led to his accomplishments.

Jim Rohn presented seminars for more than 40 years and has been credited for his influence by other well-known motivational speakers and authors such as; Tony Robbins, Mark Victor Hansen, Jack Canfield and Brian Tracy.

One of Jim’s 17 published books was named ‘Five Major Pieces to the Life’ and was built around what he considered to be the five key components of success:

- Philosophy – how you think

- Attitude – How you feel

- Action – What you do

- Results – Measure often to see if you are making progress

- Lifestyle – the kind of life you can make for yourself out of the first four pieces

Jim Rohn Quotes To Live By:

To attract attractive people, you must be attractive. To attract powerful people, you must be powerful. To attract committed people, you must be committed. Instead of going to work on them, you go to work on yourself. If you become, you can attract. - Jim Rohn

We can have more than we’ve got because we can become more than we are. - Jim Rohn

The big challenge is to become all that you have the possibility of becoming. You cannot believe what it does to the human spirit to maximize your human potential and stretch yourself to the limit. - Jim Rohn

Pity the man who inherits a million dollars and who isn’t a millionaire. Here’s what would be pitiful: If your income grew and you didn’t. - Jim Rohn

The most important question to ask on the job is not “What am I getting?” The most important question to ask on the job is “What am I becoming?” - Jim Rohn

It is hard to keep that which has not been obtained through personal development. - Jim Rohn

After you become a millionaire, you can give all of your money away because what’s important is not the million dollars; what’s important is the person you have become in the process of becoming a millionaire. - Jim Rohn

Income seldom exceeds personal development. - Jim Rohn

What you become directly influences what you get.- Jim Rohn

Values were meant to be costly. If it doesn’t cost much, we probably wouldn’t appreciate the value. - Jim Rohn

Count the cost first. Don’t pay too big a price for pursuing minor values. - Jim Rohn

Kim’s passion to succeed and risk taking personality saw her at this advertising agency for a short time only before moving on to working for a magazine that was directed towards the business world of Honolulu.
Frank Kern – Make Money Online Like The Pros

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-dK5lb8qjs

Frank Kerns Top 10 Tips for you to take home:

Iʼm so damn tired of these dip-shits on the news talking about how thereʼs “no money” that Iʼm ready so shoot the T.V. 90% of journalists and news anchors donʼt make shit for money. They are broke. And a sure fire way to go broke is to take financial advice from broke people.I, however, am not broke. Not even close.

Getting more customers is only the tip of the iceberg to making more money. Sell more stuff to existing customers is easier. And easier still – increase frequency of purchase to existing customers.

90 percent of us focus 90 percent of our efforts doing the hardest stuff possible. For example, to create more (targeted) traffic, look to “new” channels like Bing, Google image ads, newsletter ads (solo-ads), co-op on “thank you pages”. Have you heard of the Bing Slap? No, didn’t think so.

It’s the offer stupid (a Dan Kennedy original). Instead of selling an eBook for $47 dollars – you might want to offer a physical version of your package for $9 dollars shipping and handling plus three easy payments of $30 dollars.

Most order forms absolutely suck. They don’t restate your guarantee. They don’t restate your bonuses. And they donʼt SELL.

Your bonus. Increase conversion easily by simply offering more bonuses. I call this ”bonus stacking”, or “stacking” the cool. Don’t offer worthless bonuses that suck, however.

Increase conversions (ie. make more money) by having down-sells available when people exit the page. There are plenty of exit popup scripts you can offer that say, “Hey wait, would you like to try the cheaper version?”

Increase the frequency of your offers.

Increase the size of the transaction. Get more money from that first batch of sales by simply charging more.

Create a back-end product that compliments your front end product.
